Julien Martinez, our R&D manager, and Serge Hugard from SHMC Medical Technologies, Acémis France’s distributor in the BENELUX, went to the Belgian Red Cross (Rode Kruis-Vlaanderen) premises in Mechelen to test C-BAC add-on features for the distribution of frozen plasma bags.

In addition to the C-BAC features already in place at our customers:

• reception of whole blood and apheresis plasma at the EFS in Toulouse, France
• labelling control at the Croix-Rouge in Namur, Belgium

The C-BAC now offers the Croix-Rouge in Belgium the ability to

• deliver blood bags to the end-customers

This feature is particularly interesting in the case of the Mechelen establishment, which processes up to 700 bags of frozen plasma every day, a sensitive product involving awkward handling.

Karen Bens was able to test the benefits of the C-BAC’s automated features in real-life conditions: there’s no longer any need for a hand-held barcode reader, It is sufficient to move the product under the C-BAC reading head!

For operators, these new stock management features mean:

• Substantial time savings
• Reduced musculoskeletal disorders.

Software compatibility: at the end of this test phase, Acémis France was also able to interface the C-BAC with the EdgeBlood medico-technical software from Inlog used by the Red Cross in Mechelen.

Fully adaptable to the needs of each laboratory, the C-BAC software offers a range of services in a single step:

• Reading and recording the unique identifier of each bag
• Matching each bag to a specific shipping box
• Adapting to the variable number of bags contained in each box.

These add-on features for the distribution of frozen plasma bags met all the expectations of the Mechelen Red Cross team. Thus began a test phase in real conditions this summer for our C-BAC, at the end of which we hope to be able to help the Belgian Red Cross improve production flow thanks to the automation of blood bags deliveries.

Daniel Rocheteau, service technician at SHMC, followed a two-day training course given by our R&D manager Julien Martinez on our medical machines C-LAB and C-BAC.

Theory, practice, as well as a simulation workshop on the functioning of the machines, validated the necessary skills to carry out independently the installation, the start-up and the configuration on site of an equipment while meeting the specific needs of the customers.

From 17 to 19 March, our design manager Julien Martinez visited our distributor SHMC Medical Technologies in Namur to install a C-BAC bag reception station and test its new labelling control function at the Belgian Red Cross.

At the request of the Belgian Red Cross and the Luxembourg Red Cross, Acémis has developed a total bag traceability service to check the consistency of labelling between the entry and exit of the treatment centre.

Acémis France participated in the last congress of the Société Française de Transfusion Sanguine, which was held in Marseille from November 24 to 26, 2021. More than 900 delegates were present at this fair.

French, Belgian, Swiss and Luxembourg Blood Transfusion players have shown great interest in our latest innovation, the automated CAD agitation duration and transfer (C-CAD).

The C-CAD, currently being deployed on all the preparation platforms for Labile Blood Products, has been installed in 2 regions (Bourgogne Franche Comté and Grand Est). The deployment schedule plans to install more than 40 pieces of equipment in all regions of the EFS (mainland and overseas departments)

A collaborative study has been carried out with “EFS Pyrénées Méditerranée” and will be illustrated by a poster under reference number P043: “Monitoring of Blood Leukodepletion steps by optical detection”. You will find the outcomes of the research at the Bordeaux 2017 SFTS exhibition in the poster room from September 20, 2017 to September 22, 2017.
